The growing distance between the Government and the population has become a significant contributor to the escalating concerns over crime and public safety. This deficit in representative government is aggravated by the increasing disagreements between the Government and Opposition over anti-crime and security policies. So while civic alliances and political unity are critical for fighting crime at fundamental levels, the absence of both now leave the doors wide open for increased criminal activity and broken anti-crime policies.
