(KCCR) — A Hastings, Nebraska man is being held in the Hughes County Jail after his arrest on burglary and other charges this weekend. Pierre Police Captain Bryan Walz says officers responded to a burglary report just afternoon on Saturday in the 1900 block of Table Street. The victim reported to officers that his shop had been burglarized a short time before. As officers investigated on scene, a vehicle matching one seen earlier in the area drove past by prompting police to perform a traffic stop. As officers continued their investigation during the stop, the determined the vehicle’s driver, 37 year old Timothy Kaup was involved in the burglary. Officers also determined Kaup was operating the vehicle he was in while under the influence of alcohol. Kaup was arrested on charges of 3rd Degree Burglary, Theft from a Building, Intentional Damage to Property, 4th offense D-U-I, Open Container and Driving under Suspension.
