Here's How Trump Plans to Change SNAP Benefits - 07-31

On July 23rd, President Donald Trump announced a potential new set of guidelines that would affect eligibility for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). Under current guidelines, 43 states allow any individual qualifying for certain government assistance programs, such as the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) program, to automatically qualify for SNAP benefits. If Trump’s policy went into effect, families and individuals interested in SNAP assistance would be required to apply separately for the program, and prove they were receiving “substantial, ongoing assistance from TANF.”
