5 Family Members on Vacation Killed in Car Crash with 18-Wheeler on Texas Highway

People - 07-21

Five people, including two children, were killed in a multi-vehicle collision on a Texas highway southwest of Houston. Five were killed and at least seven were injured the tragic accident involving an 18-wheeled semi-trailer, a white passenger van and a Ford F-250 pickup truck, according to the Victoria Advocate.

User from TX: What ever happened a whole family was killed. Prayers to the rest of their family and friends.

Delia Cardenas Valle: I understand the van hit the semi. This made the van driver go out of control and cross the median, hitting the truck head on. At least that is what I've read on several articles.

User from TX: Your headline is misleading. They were killed by a pickup that struck the semi while the pickup was trying to merge. How about getting it right?

Adela Cox: praying for all involved. prayers and condolences goes to the family and friends of the deceased. As a wife of a trucker we see vehicles every day who are occupied with their phone and or other electronics or be distracted period. Always be alert. The texts and calls can wait. The distractions can be avoided. My heart just goes out to all involved

Estrella Estrella: Prayers and my condolences to the family , so tragic accident. May they rest in peace and we have them and the family in our prayers .

You know, it really doesn't matter, now, innocent people were killed, that's what we have police,,sheriff's, etc, for, to decide who is responsible!!!

The article headline implied it was the 18 wheeler's fault and, in fact, IT WAS NOT. The van hit the 18 wheeler. Bottom line, it is tragic that there was a loss of so many lives.

Pay attention to side winds. Once you get beside a semi it will break the wind which could cause you to swerve into it of away from it! Same way once you get past. This is amplified by rain and or snow and ice.

How horribly Sad!
Amanda Thetford - 07-23
Poorly written. A female, two males and two children, a boy and a girl, traveling in the van were pronounced dead at the scene. That's saying 7 died 5 passengers taken to hospital but there were 10 total. It was 10 total passengers and 5 passed according to all the news reports.

I was an OTR truck driver for a short period. I dont think that many of you four-wheelers realize just how dangerous driving can be. When you're on the road ten hours a day for six days a week, you see a lot of human behavior and you realize how those behaviors can stack the odds against you. Slow down, back off, pay attention. AND DON'T @#$&ING CUT BIG TRUCKS OFF!!!!

Very good Advice, Adela. Only trouble with that is no pays attention to it. smh
