PORTLAND — When Oregon’s political leaders debated solutions to a housing crisis that was forcing renters from their homes and sending prices through the roof, they had a central goal in mind: avoid the fate of their neighbor to the south.

Tom C: Actually Democrats screwed lower income people right out of homes.7% cap when raises or cost of living increases are (usually) around 3%??That is NOT helping lower income families. In addition to new transportation taxes, sin taxes and gas tax??Way to go Democrats, you are screwing low income families. Guess what's next folks?! Rent subsidies to lower income families, more taxes.

Lizette Grau: Watch and see a halt to new construction.

Bonnye Spray: A Brown ruined CA and a Brown is ruining OR

Scott Young: they have programs like this in China, everyone gets a house and a job. no reason to work hard or get ahead. just be born and intilted. the government will take if you.

keeping It Real: They won’t be like CA ever!! Why? Sadly we have idiots like Harris Pelosi Feinstein’s Waters and NewSCUM!!

Why are we importing people from Somalia? Why aren't we deporting illegals? Wouldn't that free up millions of units of housing? Oh, I forgot, if it wasn't for illegals the democrats never win another election again which is why they keep importing people into a country that is so over crowded that it can't house it's own citizens. Glad I'm not a Oregon landlord. Get ready to live in a third world shithole Portlandians.

Your rent should be a 1/4 of your pay. Take home.

there are so many homeless people now an if they let the rent go up on people there will be a lot of empty places then they won't make any money at all. Then there's the case of slumloards that just suck up the rent money an don't put any of it back into the rentals. Then they raise the minimum wage so a person can make a few extra bucks only to screw you with higher rent besides higher cost of living. So 3 steps forward an 10 steps backwards. So much for making this country great again. Cheer up people were all on our way to making this country poor an know more again. Rich keep getting happier an rest of us are wanting to get happier but the forecast is not looking to sunny.

Some of you here in California need to understand the one party state Government is owned by the wealthy elite. the European Globalsocialist/communist's. And the Mexican Drug Cartels. And allthough they falsely claim to be the champions of the Blue collar workers and working poor. That's all it is a false claim. Shortly theres only going to be two classes here the very rich. a the very poor. liveing in stack and pack public housing. whos kids are going to receive 3rd rate public education. rudimentary health care. (anything serious will what few meger possessions you have to those who you want to have them because youre dead) But the good news is........ Well there is none. The Democratic party is the biggest threat to this state. And do not try and defend them. Because you can't. They have been in sole possession of the state for how long? Long enough to take us where we are. You can no longer deny. That they have kicked us to the curb

Homeless are not people who have jobs and just cant afford a place to live. They mental health issues or addiction or both. Some just choose it as a life style. I have had money issues, never did I end up the street.

Why is it a crisis when most of the vagabonds don't want to live in society and obey rules? Ship them out to slab city. Don't waste tax dollars on them.

owners will say forget it, sell there rentals, houses, hence harder to find rentals. why not find your land, build more affordable homes, apartments, no now you want to eliminate single resident dwelling, ....be ready for schools to be overcrowded, new schools having to be built, new boundaries, ... it's a snowball effect, lived it.

one problem is just the amount you have to have to even get into a place, you might be able to afford the rent, but I don't know to many people that have an extra 2 grand to pay to get into the place, its pretty sad when you have people with good jobs, but still cant get into a place.

there is so many homeless everywhere. just lower the rent to $550.00 and you would not have to put people out . So its the governments fault.
