Man Who Led Authorities On Wednesday Night Chase Arrested Thursday - 07-19

Authorities report that a man who eluded them following a high-speed car chase Wednesday was arrested in Carroll County on Thursday morning. Forty-eight-year-old Ronald Becker, who has claimed residency in Boone and in Carroll, was arrested on charges of driving while barred and eluding at approximately 11 a.m. at a residence on Kittyhawk Avenue. He was transported to the Greene County jail later in the day. Becker had been spotted on Tuesday night at the Wild Rose Casino and Resort in Jefferson, and the officer had knowledge that his right to drive in Iowa had been barred. He was arrested and later released, only to return to the casino and drive his vehicle away. When an officer attempted to pull him over, he led them on a chase at speeds up to 95 miles per hour on paved roadways and 80 miles per hour on gravel. He missed the turn at a t-intersection and entered the ditch, but then fled on foot. The Jefferson Police Department was assisted in that pursuit by the Greene, Carroll and Boone County Sheriff’s Offices and the Greene and Boone County K-9 units.
