The Alabama Department of Labor said today that the state set several economic records in June - good ones - for high employment and low unemployment. Alabama’s unemployment rate last month was 3.5 percent, a new record, beating the previous low of 3.7 percent. The state reported 2,160,931 people employed, more than 10,000 when compared to the previous month and almost 49,000 more than a year ago at this time. That was also a high mark, as was the civilian labor force mark of 2.24 million. That number represents the number of people, aged 16 and over, who are either working or looking for work, excluding the military and those in institutions.
