Mayor Lori Lightfoot is floating five sites, all on the city’s South and West sides, as possible locations for a Chicago casino, her office said Wednesday. A state-hired consultant will study the economic feasibility of the sites and report its findings to the state and city. City officials stressed that the casino won’t necessarily wind up at one of the five spots, which they characterized as test sites, but the choices suggest that Lightfoot seeks to fulfill her campaign promise to direct growth to the city’s struggling areas.
