WALNUT CREEK — Taun Hall had warned police about her 23 year-old son’s mental illness, so when she called them on June 2 to seek their help during a psychotic, she couldn’t imagine that they would shoot him dead.

Joie Biagas: I'm very sorry for the loss of your son, my deepest condolence to you and the family. No one should call the police for a mental patient. if ever a situation arise where mental patient is having a psychotic episode refer help from the Psychiatric Evaluation Team.

Brenda Knight: So sad. This should never have happened!
