A Sagadahoc County sheriff’s deputy was arrested Friday morning on an assault charge. The Times Record reports that Deputy Matthew Shiers was arrested at 8 a.m. and charged with aggravated assault related to domestic violence.

Scott Smith: Perhaps more psychological screening/evaluating should be applied to L.E.O. prior to being employed, AND periodically throughout their career. Could quite possibly prevent a lot of loose cannons/hot-heads from being in positions like these with a certain degree of power, authority, & even more important, a firearm on their hip.

Giuseppe Berlioze: Matt's a hot head, always has been. this should have happened a long time ago but I guess luck runs out

When a police officer breaks the law in Maine the investigation should go directly to the state police , Not to the sheriff's Dept. especially he's a sheriff , and they wonder why people don't come forward on abuse / Maine 👎

Last summer chief of police in the State of Maine charged with operating under the influence , Still in his job position to this day / They know the legal system is on there side 😕 Many people have PTSD due to event's in there lives , and they pay the fine , Do the time , Should be no different / They take an oath to serve and protect , Even worse.
