London City Police were called out on a welfare check after an 11-year-old boy was reported walking by himself at a business on South Laurel Road. Laurel County Sheriff’s Deputies were also called out to investigate. Investigators learned that apparently the boy and his grandmother had a disagreement overnight at their home off Rita Lane, about 7 miles South of London and the boy was told to leave. The boy took off walking around 1:30 in the morning. Deputies learned that his grandmother had apparently made no attempt to locate him and no attempt to contact 911 reporting him gone from the home. Officers arrested 57-year-old Patricia Rose of Corbin and charged her with criminal abuse and assault. She was lodged in the Laurel County Corrections Center. Meanwhile the boy was placed with other family by social services.
