MASON CITY, Iowa - In a contentious vote, the Cerro Gordo County Board of Supervisors voted to end paid health care benefits for some retired employees. Tom Meyer, director for administrative services said, "This was a very tough decision for the supervisors. We have a lot of good employees and this is no way a reflection on the employees and the kind of job they do."

Supervisors should have to have an open forum before voting on a life changing event for dedicated employees. Seems this was rushed through without taxpayer input. Are there other options for consideration?
