Alvin ISD prepares for fourth high school
Last week, Alvin ISD announced it had closed on land for its fourth high school and would begin construction in 2019. The school, which will be built to house 2,500 students, is expected to open in 2022.
Suspect arrested in attempted kidnapping
A 22-year-old man is behind bars for allegedly attempting to kidnap an Alvin teen who was out running Dec. 2. The Brazoria County Sheriff’s Office arrested Steven Salazar on Dec. 11 and charged him with one count of attempted kidnapping. Salazar is being held on a $20,000 bond.
Local Knights of Columbus council reports annual charity donations of $34,000
The Alvin-Manvel Council 6403 of the Knights of Columbus donated over $34,000 to local charities in 2017. This includes money to the local needy through food pantry, Meals on Wheels, BACH, Gathering Place, Harvey Flood Support and more.
