Convicted murderer to be paroled

James Earl Jones, 22 at the time, lived on Edmondson Avenue in Tarboro in 1993. He had an unknown beef with 31-year-old James Battle Jr., of Princeville. Police said Jones had been drinking alcohol on Feb. 22, 1993, when he spotted Battle in a car at Greenwood and First streets.
