Groveland Museum Celebrates Founder’s Day With Historical Expo - 03-21

Downtown Groveland as seen in 1924. Many of the buildings remain in the city’s historic downtown on Broad Street (State Road 50). Exactly when present-day Groveland was founded isn’t known, other than it was permanently settled sometime in the years following the Civil War. However, historians do know when the fast-growing city traded its early name, Taylorville, for Groveland. That happened during a raucous town hall meeting on March 31, 1922.
