A tale of two snow caves — rescued skiers share first-hand account of surviving a blizzard

story about two Bay Area women who were rescued after two nights lost in the mountains, surviving subfreezing temperatures and blizzard conditions by building a snow cave. The rescue was carried out by a team of dedicated staff from the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office, a California Highway Patrol air unit out of Amador County and search and rescue volunteers from all over the state.
